ooh.
what am i doing here?
how interesting: here to blog on nyco blog for the FIRST TIME.
i'm very slow.
just knew the username and password today.
i felt like crapping today so...
so mrs ee went through both songs today =)
as always. and told us how to improve here and there, touch up on these bits, add more enthusiasm or romance to the other parts...
and she said "WE CAN DO IT. just a bit more. and we'll make it"
we're closer than ever before =) yay.
mrs ee says we need more energy. ENERGY aka vigour.
that more, and we're there.
JIAYOU NYCO.
press on, we'll do it.
and after that we can go out for dinner.
going out for dinner, and definitely CELEBRATING.
mrs ee was momentarily sad today.
she said "why do you all look so depressed? you all affect me, you know."
silence.
"isnt it? don't you agree?"
silence.
"how come everytime wo gu li ni men and then i dont get any of that?"
-puts on fake sad face which appeared rather amusing to me-
some of the xuanyue people: go mrs ee!!
"AH! that's right!" says mrs ee happily =)
(and more discussion about being hyper and crazy and about encouraging each other)
"ok that's all then"
vivacious-monkeyish da ji yue people [and that's us] : (1...2...3!) MRS EE, YOU ROCK!!!
"HAHAHAHAHA. WAH! ego boost! thank you!" --seems very confident all of a sudden--
"yes yes, everybody rocks. jiayou, yue tuan"
on that stage in sch, the 3rd of april,
we'd think about every bar, phrasing, dynamic you told us to take note of.
we'd remember every scene you presented to us for each section of the music.
we'd put in our overpowering emotions into the notes we play.
we'd breathe and sway with you and the rest of the orchestra because we recall you once told us that nyco wouldnt be able to make music without our hearts beating as one.
we'd produce our unique NYCO music with astonishing poise (that not anyone across the road could show) and undoubtedly the judges would claim "Gold With Honours"
let it be like so...
Mrs Ee, if we wouldnt do it for anything or anyone else, we would do it for you.
you said we could do it, so yes we can.
you said we would make it, so yes we will.
we said you seriously rock, and really, yes you do =)
go mrs ee!
and jiayou my dearest nyco..
jiankuaideliangfeng and molihua would never be the same again.
we play it different.
because it's truly music from our hearts =)
I shall dedicate this post to Mrs Ee alone and her alone. Where do I start? How do I start this? From the time when I was Sec 1, after NYCO successfully clinched a GWH at SYF 2005.
I was then under the rod of Lin Lao Shi, who had come in to replace her as the temporary conductor (due to her maternity). My seniors seemed to be in love with Mrs Ee. I was disgusted. It did not seem to make sense to love your conductor, who, to me, was by far just another ordinary person. Wasn't my conductor in primary school just another person too? Why love Mrs Ee so much then?
Afterall, she looked scary when she didn't smile. That was one.
Fast forward to the time when it was NYCO concert next year. I started my first relationship with TIM on Lin An Yi Hen. It was nevertheless, a great opportunity for me as an individual. Mrs Ee was the conductor yet again. It was then when I suddenly saw how special a conductor she was. Unlike other conductors that I have been guided under, Mrs Ee was one who spoke of music. She was no score reading instrument. She spoke of her dreams and ideals in music. She opened up my eyes to details and observations seemingly distant to the wandering eyes. She told me how counting bars could be an art.
I recall having her terrorizing me when I played yangqin for Huang He. If you have been living in my era, you should know a great deal that I am not that big on yangqin. Mrs Ee never let down her stringent efforts on anyone. To me, that meant hell. That meant extreme torturous practices at home, attempting to perfect all my notes etc. And when I am perched behind the yangqin Mrs Ee was different. She showed me how a worm fears a bird.
Contradictory, wasn't it?
Fast forward to SYF 2007. Back with TIM = So totally myself! I realised Mrs Ee is becoming nicer and nicer. At least to me I guess. Her every stroke tells of delicate precision. Now that I have mastered the art of counting bars, I do enjoy watching her smooth conducting. It would be quite a treat if she decides to recount some story from her past.
And then I compare to the past in Sec 1. And how disgusted I was when my seniors were in love with Mrs Ee. Now I struggle to argue with my demeaning past self, as my present self insisted: "Stop being so narrow minded! You know Mrs Ee rocks."
And of course she does. NYCO is what it is now, because of Mrs Ee. Mrs Ee was a talented musician and performer. Her distinctions and credits were so much I couldn't put them all in my head. She could have been a world class performer if she had continued in her own musical pursuit. But instead, her beliefs in us overcame those desires. She became our conductor instead.
She had a faith that NYCO could be good.
She had continued in her faith till now. She had, not once, not twice, never given up on us. Had we been so reciprocative all this while? Do we sometimes lament for her letting us off late for dazu? Or have we been fidgeting when she would be busy trying to practise with other sections? Deep in our hearts, the answers speak for themselves.
That's why we must do her proud this time. NYCO will get the GWH. Let's just play music which would touch ourselves, Mrs Ee and that will be good enough.
Mrs Ee you rock. Although sometimes you are still rather scary, I love you very much. Cheerios.
acronyms, of which this is one of those in which every letter counts.
it can be no more, no less.
NYCO.
and it takes each one of us to make NYCO. (:
what's more, there's only
one NYCO.
HAHA AND YOU KNOW WE ROCK :D
NYCO JIAYOU!
在此,我祝南中华乐团:加油! (;
无名
(不过你们也已经猜到我到底是谁了)
HELLO
for molihua, there's this recording by kaohsiung CO(other than the HCICO version) , and perhaps i think everyone can have a listen at it.
cos it's conducted by none other than liu wen jin himself.
you can ask around for it if you don't have! ((:
Sometimes when you are down and out, deep down in your own valleys of sorrow, all it takes is a little optimism to let you see the light you receive.

JIAN KUAI DE LIANG FENG
One day, two bored people were having a race.
Says A: I dare you I can make the wind accelerate with me as I run.
Replies B: How can that be! Don't be lame. My physics teacher didn't say that's possible.
A: Don't believe me; your loss!
A then picks off at a brisk speed, his motive clearly shown. He needs to use his powers to make the wind accelerate with him. He starts off really at a moderate speed; and somehow at the start of the race he manages to churn some melody out, imitating a flute. It was apparently an attempt to throw B off his track.
B was dumbfounded. Like, what the hell? Did his physics teacher ever teach him anything about making the wind accelerate? It seemed like such a deep mystery; so profound. Nevertheless, being the kiasu he had always been, B caught up with A in the race.
The two of them kept arguing while running. It was kind of lame (just like having two counter melodies with a poor little accompaniment in the background).
B: Why are you running so slow? What kind of strategy is this?A: Says who. Heh, think of a strategy to reverse my theories if you are so free!
As such then, it seemed like he began to pick up speed, this time throttling like an old horse from the race track. (with an attractive melody!) A almost felt gay; he was listening to his MP3 player. Somehow he was thinking about girly stuff: flowers, dancing; flowers; dancing. Oops. Then he turned to his back. Aaah, so this was what happened.
B was in a flowery jumpsuit. He actually bothered to change into it in the middle of the course?
A: I must say, you're pretty pro.
B: Thanks, I do take pride in keeping myself attractive no matter the time, venue or date.
A: -.-
A, like any other normal person, was freaked out. Was that a sign of...? Thus, he began running at a speed of VIVACE, as fast as his legs could carry him. B was running after him!
A stood on the edges of realisation. B is gay, and B likes him, and that's why he is doing all such crap with him? Running a race with him, changing into a silly flowery jumpsuit for his sake? What is this? Korean drama gay version?
A galloped away like a stealthy steed. B was on a hot pursuit of his desired one.
It was clearly, humorous.
Out of the blue, A and B were swept away in the winds of nowhere; winds that carried cows and sofas alike, that swept coconut trees away, that almost uprooted the Sir Stamford Raffles statue! The end.
(You know why they were swept away? Because that was a tornado. You see, A and B ran so fast the wind accelerated too much and it became a tornado!)

Plain crap, but do applaud me on my incessant crapping efforts. XD Molihua to be up soon.
thankyou YUEN YI LENG :D
(our dear yangqin senior!)
THUS, we must play like beautiful, kind-hearted, hardworking, resilient chinese ladies, (err how to translate the last part?) chasing (?) after love and fate, trying to make the best out of everything.
-triumphant music!-
TATA!!
:D
and since the post before this is pretty new, i don't wanna eat it up.
THUS. take a look at it :D
Gold With Honours is TANGIBLE.
it's been a long time since i posted on this blog. wonder if anyone still comes here. whee i hope to type something motivational here! :D
this afternoon's dazu was quite fun, right! :D it was quite a change from the previous.. dull practices. if we could remain this way it'd be really great :)
i just watched cchsmco's molihua performance for last syf. in some ways they're better than us, but of course there're ways in which we're better than them! but we cannot compare like that! :D whatever it is, we must make sure on 3rdapril 2.30pm, we, NYCO07, will play the BESTESTESTESTESETESTESTESTEST MOLIHUA AND JIANKUAIDELIANGFENG we've ever played.
we have 20 days to that day... 20 days may seem short, but if we are ALL willing to give in our true hearts, minds and souls (DBSK's SONG! :D) for this CO, for our seniors, for our juniors, for Mrs Ee, for our school! :O, for everyone!, and of course for ourselves (because afterall we spent so much time practising), WO MEN YI DING KE YI DE! it all depends on us.
it's just 3 weeks. just 3 weeks! it'll be gone in just. 3 weeks D: please give in all your best and don't wait till it's over before you regret it... if we don't get what we aim for, we only have ourselves to blame. :( but never mind let's not be pessimistic. must always look on the bright side of life! we may not be great now, but i can see a WONDERFULLY GREAT AND FANTASTIC NYCO07 shining on SCH STAGE in 3 weeks' time. that's if (yes, again) all of us work towards becoming that.
i don't know how many of you come here, and those who come here, how many are still reading this post. i anyhow crap one la. i think i didn't manage to inspire anyone x/ but whatever it is, this is coming from the bottom of my heart and i hope everyone will work hard and jiayou (a lot of you2! vegetable oil corn oil organic oil inorganic oil fat oil all must use) for our common goal.
GOLD WITH HONOURS :)
NYCO 2007!
An extract from my blogpost to motivate NYCO:
- - -
NYCOTo see Shawn around has always been a revelation. Shawn, don't cringe. Even if you're huddled in the little space around Tim, consistently knocking your head against it, though unwillingly, your presence and words prove to be a great guidance for all of us, in fact for me especially. Did I say this before? Though you have been such a wonderful senior, I have felt so pressurized to be the timpanist after you. You know that you have played Tim very well. You know that you have married Tim to your soul and mind, to such a perfection whereby Tim becomes your very best friend. And me? Yes I do seek solace in hiding behind Tim's lovely rear wheels, snugging around in the irony of an air-conditioned freezer. But have I brought the soul out in Tim? I haven't. i play Tim, with taifeng and zest, but I haven't been genuinely in love with Tim yet. Let me fall in love. Oh sighness.
And Mrs Ee is getting considerably vexed and as could be seen, firmer and scolding more. I kind of like it though. Though I think I might be getting my very own personal scolding anytime to come soon, Mrs Ee, scold us all the more if you think we would be able to make it within these short eight practices. We truly deserve it. (And Yiling jiayou too. Let our CO soar under your presidency.)
DAJI, we can do it.
Benita, Jamma, Sherleen, Pamela, Xinyi, Cassandra and I.
And to the YQ players Pei Yan, Xu Hao, Amanda and Wendy.
YQP can rock: it depends on whether we want to create our motion.
- - -
And of course, let the light be with NYCO.
